Amir Salmani
infrastructure & platform engineer
I build and run the systems other software sits on — Kubernetes clusters, data centres, storage and networking, and the CI/CD and observability that keep them honest. My work stays close to the metal; I'd rather own the whole stack than rent it.
I learned this without the luxury of hyperscalers. Most of what I know came from standing up real production infrastructure under real constraints — bare metal, regional clouds, tight budgets, no safety net — and keeping it alive when things broke. That's where I got comfortable with the parts of the job that aren't glamorous: disaster recovery, reliability, the 2 a.m. incident, the migration nobody wants to own.
Along the way I've built multi-tenant platforms from zero, run a small DevOps-as-a-Service practice, served GPU/AI workloads, and rebuilt more than one cluster after losing a whole datacentre.
I care about a few things: self-reliance, data sovereignty, and getting the fundamentals right before reaching for something clever.
I'm relocating to Finland, open to platform, SRE, and infrastructure work — around Tampere or remote.
